Help with my 800rb

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I own an older model 800rb. About a year ago the low master pot went bad and I removed it with intentions of replacing it but never got around to it. Being young and stupid i used the high channel that is rated at 8ohms for a long time with a 4 ohm cab. Now that I know more about amps and stuff, I know how dumb this was. My problem is now when I run the cab on the high channel even with a 8 ohm cab, it has a hum and a click sound coming from it. I am just wondering what could cause this. This week I'm going to put a new pot for the low channel and see if the same hum comes from that channel, just curious on what could be causing this. Could the fact that it has a pot missing from the circuit board do it? Thanks guys ahead of time!

At best its a bad pot, at worst its a blown Capacitor, at the very worst, its a blown transformer. My guess is a capacitor.
