Help with my Bass/Amp, cab PA setup (Eden)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all. I have been out of playing bass for a few year and been getting back into over the last 6 month.

I just started playing with a band and I am having problems setting up my rig. We play rock music and I either play my 5 string Warwick or my fender Jazz bass.

I have an Eden WT800 head, Eden (8ohm) 4x10 cab and a 15 in (4ohm) home made cab.

I am tying to figure out how to set this up for the best sound under these conditions:

- Band practice We play in a large open space and I don't want to lug the 4x10 - 1 -15 (4ohm) - Bridged, mono, right or left side?

There is a PA (with a powered Sub)so I could DI but it seems to distort the monitors.

- Live - 4x10 and 15
- Home practice - 4x10

Thanks
Eddie

First, you need to know the minimum load the amp will handle. If it's 4 ohms, you cannot run both cabs together. If it's 2 ohms, you can, BUT the homemade 15 will be getting the majority of the power, while the 410 gets very little. Very unbalanced rig, and not a good combination. After you determine the amps minimum impedance, I'd use the 8 ohm 410 by itself, and if you want more low end and volume, dump the 15, and get a matching 8 ohm 410.
