Help Needed -Ampeg

Hi guys, just some advice please.

Recently purchased an SVT 4-pro and have a B series 4x10.

Personally i dont think this is loud enough for what i need, (pubs, functions e.t.c)

Can u guys recommend me anything louder? Apart from the 8x10 as this is too un practical.

Maybe the classic series 4x10? or any other cabs?

The head shouldn't be the problem. I'd say pick up a 2nd B Series 410. The SVT-410HLF will give you more low end and an increase in volume but I don't think you would see a significant volume increase.

Your volume problems are due to spkrs, not amp. 2 identical cabs is always the best solution.

You are not the first to mention this issue, many here on TB have complained about their SVT-4 not being loud/powerful enough. I have an SVT-4 Pro and some days it seems powerful, others not (I know, not possible right?). I always run it through 2 Mesa Road Ready cabs, a 1x15 and a 4x10. I was thinking or trading her in the other day (for a Blackstar 40 git amp, real nice btw), tested her out again and sounded very powerful so I deceided to keep. Is this an issue w/ SVT-4's??

A 4x10 isn't loud enough for a pub??? Best is Rick's suggestion of a second 4x10.

No, it's an issue of where you set your gain (4 Pros really need their gain cranked hard to get super loud cleanly...I usually set it in the 3:00 position or thereabouts when I get supplied one on a gig). Also, bear in mind your 115 will take maybe 200-250w tops, and mixing cabs can cause phasing issues where some notes are big sounding, most sound normal, and some are gone. Doesn't always happen to a large degree, but matching cabs are recommended to keep those issues at bay.

BTW, any time you want to get louder, adding a matching cab ALWAYS works way better than doubling your wattage.

Yeah i knew the head was not a problem just the cab. Really didnt wanna get a 8x10 due to the size.

Guess i'll need to have a little play around with the head, then if not buy another 4x10?

Also i dont have the special mono bridged cable that ampeg issue.

Very easy to make one or rewire an existing speakon cable. I forget how but all you need is a screwdriver.

Try a Bergantino NV610 cab. Then, your problem might be that the cab is too loud. It's kinda heavy but has tilt back wheels.
