As you've identified some worthy candidates, I would recommend using the "Search" feature for each one to get opinions on these models, as there's a lot already here. Best of all, try them and see which you like.

| | | | Out of the ones you suggested, I'd strongly recommend the GK.
I've owned SWR amps, and, to me, they're bland sounding... too clean, transparent, sterile, or whatever.
I've used the Nemesis combo at a rehearsal space, and I found it too boomy, muddy, etc.
Gallien Krueger amps are great.
Of course, the best thing would be for you to play through a few and decide which sounds best to you. |

You don't have to buy the extra cabinet just yet but at least the rig will have the ability to grow if you need it to. |

I second that! I had to dump my fender combos because you couldn't add a cab. |

| | | | I will put a extension cab,now i think just (Eden metro,Gk and Redhead) for small and
big gig,whit a ext.cab. |

FWIW, I was looking at a redhead and decided on a SWR bass 350 head and a 2x10 cab...basically the same thing barring missing a few minor tone controls. Also, FWIW, out of those, I played the Eden as well, but liked the SWR better. The Eden had too much low bass it seemed to me and not as much definition.

Reason: workingpro instead of workingman now...

I loved the tone, holds up well with a large band-have even played outside venues, can't believe how light it is. For reference, I was playing an ampeg half stack (4-10") speakers before and even if I had a roadie, I would still choose the GK.

The Metro'd be nice too, and Eden cabs are readily available.
But if you can get an extension cab with the SWR, that's great! |

Thank's | I would go for a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 210 if I were you. Light, you have the option to remove head etc. cant beat it and should work fine for what you are playing.

| | No Longer Works a Day Job | | Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: USA | | | I'd get the SWR Super Redhead. It'll give you a nice place where you can alter the sound as you see fit. Great quality, nice sound, and it has wheels.
Just keep in mind that the amp will faithfully reproduce what you put into it. Take the time to get to know what the knobs do and get inside the sounds you use the most often.
With the vast price range you're looking at, I think you should evaluate how much you can realistically spend, and THEN start figuring what features are most important to you. For me, weight, clean sound, and a DI are the most important...but I also take public transit everywhere, use a SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe for sounds other than clean, and at least 50% of the time send a line via the DI.
You're going from about $600 for the GK MB 210 to over $1k with the SWR Super Red Head with the Eden Nemesis I believe being under $500.
Same deal with weight, about 35 pounds for the GK yet nearly 100 for the SWR.
"Best Option" is pretty vague. Best in what way?

I've spent about 20 years owning Redheads, and other than them being a little on the heavy side, I loved them. If you can handle the weight, it is a tough amp to beat. Because you have such variety in weights in your list, I'm guessing that is not the #1 factor you are looking at. If weight is an issue, then this becomes a whole different discussion. Anyway, I say Redhead. |

It's very faithful and clean through and through. The only problem would be that it's sometimes too clean and scooped (I've come to really love my mids!). But from what I've read, the redhead gives a whole new flavour while still retaining some characteristics that people love about SWR. |
