I have a show in two weeks and my AE410 cabinet is distorting a little bit.
I am not sure if it is something loose or a blown speaker, as I have never had a blown speaker.
I am using a Markbass F1. I usually have the Master at 12 o'clock, sometimes at 1 o'clock for certain show and I usually have the Gain around 10 o'clock and never past 11 o'clock.
Any advice or does anyone know where I could take my beloved AE410 for a quick repair?!!!
DISASTER.

| | | | If you check for loose grill, etc, and determine its the woofer, why not go to Jim Bergantino for a direct replacement woofer? |

Bass Specialties seems to be a local dealer. Maybe they can help? http://www.bassspecialties.com/
My only experience with them is driving by and them being closed. |

1. If at all possible, replace everything but the speaker (i.e. different bass, cable, amp, speaker cable). And to get really anal, I'd try it in a different location (maybe something in that location is vibrating and not the cabinet).
2. Tighten down every screw you can get at on the cabinet. I've also heard of cases where internal wires were resting on the speaker and causing a buzzing sound so you might want to check that.
3. If it still buzzes after the above, call Jim Bergantino.

| | | | Nothing on earth is perfect.......but Jim designs a very good, solid woofer........
I definitely agree to rule out everything else possible including the gear, surroundings, etc....could even be a bad connection anywhere in the signal chain.......down to the woofer........
.......but could be the woofer..........
Good luck!! |

Glenn (the owner) is a fabolous person and took great care of the situation. He said that they do not normally do repairs there, but took a look at the cabinet anyway. Unable to tell exactly what was causing the buzzing, he took the grill off, and first pulled out a bunch of wood slivers that came off the cab when the casters were drilled in. He ended up isolating each speaker and found out that the buzzing did, indeed come from one of the drivers. He is ordering a new one from Bergantino.
The driver should be here this Wednesday!

The driver should be here this Wednesday! | You need to address the issue which caused this, which I personally think is an underpowered amp if you're running it at 12-1 on the master. You're driving it too hard for what it is - you need a more powerful head, I think.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
Cameron
