The new models were just released and that's the price. The vintage models usually got for $500-800 depending on condition and work that needs to be done. The usual caveats about buying vintage apply.
Of the PF and Micro series, I had a Micro-VR and found it lacking power, sold it and got a PF-500. Both sound/ed great. The PF-350 is supposed to be basically the same preamp and the micro with more power. The Micro-VR its a pain in the butt in it's fancy little head box that takes up more room than it needs to. Between the 350, 500, and 800 the 500/800 have a more flexible EQ and more features.
