Help on a poweramp

I was planning on getting a gk 1001rb ii with a sansamp rbi for tone. Would i be better off just getting a crown power amp if so which one. Also on the crown amplifiers I would be running bridged mono correct?

If you're gonna use an RBI you'd be better off just getting a power amped. You don't have to run bridged mono, you can just run one side.

If you're gonna get a power amp, get one of the new light ones with a warranty;

Carvin DCM-L stuff is good, Crown XTIs are excellent values, Peavey IPRs get pretty good reviews, et cetera.

The RBI -> 1001 RB II will have more tonal variation since you can get some GK tone and mix it. The RBI when engaged tends to just wash everything out though in my experience.

Just my 2cents: I am running a Sansamp RPM with a Carvin DCM2000L with a killer tone! With the power amp I can run a variety of cab combinations ranging from 2ohms/side and up. With the extra "bridged" feature - (if you need alot more power), you can't go wrong. So far, it's my favorite setup, for hard Classic Rock/Alternative stuff I do.

Running a Sansamp /Crown XL602 rig with 2x12 / 2x10 / 4x10 in varous configs -with a Sad 5 and SR5 , killer tone.

What is bridged mono Is there a way to hook that up to a 8x10 cab. You kind of seemed to like the idea of the 1001rb ii with the rbi haha I'm not sure which one i should do at all haha

Bridged mono turns your stereo power amp into a mono (one power out) amp, it makes your stereo power amp much more powerful. Yes, you would hook it up to your 8x10 as you would normally hook an amplifier up to your cab, with 1 (one) speaker/speakon cable.

If you are planning on running your stereo power amp bridged, make sure that your cab is able to handle the massive wattage that even the inexpensive power amps can generate.

I ran an RBI with a Crown XTI1000 for a few years . I used mine in bridged mode into one or two 8 ohm cabinets and it worked great , lots of power , light weight and no problems . Before that I used a Crown CE1000 with about the same results but more weight because it's more of a lead sled design than the XTI . Either of those two amps would drive your 810 fine .

I really love the sound i get from my `E-SystemsPro` Poweramp with the Sansamp RPM...Like the guys said killer tone everytime.
Other nite i really got it to sound like a tube amp being pushed.
Then you can get the RPM/RBI & use 1 on each side of the amp with highs 1 side & lows on the other but you will need the right cabs for this.

Can I ask, do power amps effect the sound/tone? If so, in what ways?

They do, but I don't think you can tell the difference if you pick from Carvin/QSC/Peavey/Crown. I'm sure some people can, I can't

according to the guys who build them, once you get into the super low levels of distortion they get in power amps these days, the human ear can't detect any differences. and if you can hear a difference, it's because the distortion level is high enough to hear a difference in one of the amps. that leaves build quality, size, and feature set being the big differences with most power amps these days.

there are people who claim to hear differences between the ultra-light power amps and the bigger heavier ones, but i don't know if i buy into that. most of my favorite solid state bass amps these days are small ones.
