Help setting up rig

Sign in to disble this ad
OK...I am stupid and slow and need understandable instructions!

How do I connect the following gear (I can do the 110 power connection....the rest I am confused about!)

My gear:

Carvin BR 1200
Korg DTR 200 tuner
BBE sonic maximizer (482i)
Boss GT6B effects pedal
Sampson wireless

What connections go where and....shielded or unshielded cables? (and where)

I really appreciate the help!

Does the BR1200 have a tuner out? If so, I'd say
Wireless -> pedal -> BBE -> BR1200 -> Tuner (through tuner out)

Don't worry about the effects loop. Just connect as above and it will work. Now go learn about gain structure.

Wireless base unit out to pedal in, pedal out to maximiser in, max out to amp in,

amp speaker out to speaker with a speaker cable, not an instrument cable, my bad.

GT-6B has an onboard tuner so you can fergaboud tuner.

First off, all connections (other then from head to cab) are made with instrument cables.

Take the output from your wireless into the Boss pedal.

Output from Boss to amps instrument input.

Tuner out on head to the Korg.

BBE should be in FX loop - it is line level, and should be the last thing in your signal chain before the power amp. You would connect the FX "send to the BBE "in". The BBE "out" gets connected to the FX "return".

Ooops, yeah, line level is the signal level your amp operates on, as in what comes out of the preamp into the amp. The amp's FX loop is like an optional splice in the preamp to amp connection that operates when you plug a FX ( line level ) unit in there.

Curious

While you have mentioned the FX loop, why would you use it? Just in case you want to be able to turn the whole loop off at once?

As a general rule:

Your usual floor pedals operate at guitar level so you put them between the guitar and the preamp.

Rack processors generally operate with the much higher preamplied signal, they go in the loop before the amp.

I am getting some of it, but remain confused....I have the pedal for the amp (has effects switch and EQ switch).....I'd like to use the Boss GT6B as well, but really remain lost as to the exact chain....(wireless to GT6, GT6 to amp, BBE ?????????, and I think I can figure the tuner....exact chain in/out is still cloudy?

As a wise man once told me - RTFM!!!!!

I'm sure this is all explained in detail in the manuals of each of these items. You will learn a lot more about your gear by reading the manuals and hooking things up according to those instructions than you will by trying to get everyone here to show you where to plug in what.....

Go onto the company websites and download them. Some of them are hard to find, but if stick with it you can find them. Believe me, manuals for bass gear can be confusing, but once you start catching the "lingo", every one of them is pretty simple to use.

You already have your answer, and confirmed by second opinion.
