help with speaker replacement hartke 410xl

ok ,one of my speakers is blown,i left the cab in the bar cause i was too tired last weekend ,i think the maintennace people was messing around with my rig and now one of the speakers is farting when i play mid and low notes ,even at low volume, the noise goes away when i press the aluminum cone with my finger,i think it could be a problem with de cone or the dust cover but i canīt find the problem.i bought an eminence basslite ca2010 speaker to replace the hartke , it will be here in 4 days(musicians friend) but now i have a lot of questions
1.-the other three speakers are 100 watt and the eminence is 150 the nominal impedance is 8 ohm, is it going to affect the overall performance of the cab?the eminence seems to be the right replacement.
2.-should i have to modify the cabinet or i can use the eminence as a direct replacement?
3.-the eminence has an aluminum cone and in some sites they mentioned that it is the right speaker for hartke and gallien krueger gold line but the info is too poor
4.- is necessary to replace all the speakers or just one?
5.-iīm so confused with the cab tuning info,i just want to know if its going to work well with my cab

i hope you can help me...please!

If you bought the basslite new at full price, you probably could have found a used 410xl in good working order for a few bucks more. Mis-matching speakers in the same cab is usually not a good idea.

I just threw 4 new eminence 1040's in an old 410xl and it sounds really good. Avatar's website has them for only $28 a piece. It no longer sounds like the aluminum cone hartke cab, but I think its an upgrade in sound actually. You'd probably be able to sell the 3 remaining good hartke drivers to almost pay for those at that price.

Just a thought

I've seen a few blown hartke cabs on Craigslist. I thought about picking them up cause they are usually super cheap, but... I have had no luck finding replacement drivers so I gave up on that idea.

If you only have one driver with a problem, you could find another cab EXACTLY the same model as the one you have and use it for parts, or vice versa... If you like the cab.

What in the world were you thinking leaving your gear behind??? Crazy bro!

Hi.

Welcome to TalkBass fierroth8 .

Can You send the Basslite back?

The XL10 is around 80 € IIRC, that's the best bet for that cab.

Also, the Hartke aluminium cone drivers are notorious for the detaching dust cap, making the driver sound very much like a blown one.
Re-gluing is all that it takes if that's the problem.

I have used the XL 10 in place of a few Eminence drivers in an enclosure tuned for them, and so I don't think the tuning should be that much of a problem.
But in a shared space I still wouldn't use different drivers.

Regards
Sam

I bought a 410TP for 80 bucks because the previous owner thought they were blown up

and said OK I'll buy replacements
the replacement 10" aluminum cone specs:

Aluminum cone
Treated cloth surround
Stamped steel basket
1.5" voice coil
20oz. magnet

Specifications::
Power Capacity: 70W/100W RMS/peak
Sensitivity: 90dB (W/M)
Impedance: 8ohm
Re: 6.9ohm
Le: 0.65mH
Frequency response: 45Hz~10KHz
Fs: 45Hz
Qts: 0.87
Qes: 1.07
Qms: 4.73
Vas: 71.34 (liters)
Xmax: 3.35mm

so I bought 4 of them for 100 bucks, but they still sit on my shelf because there was nothing wrong with the OEM drivers after I reglued all the dustcaps --

Thanks to everybody

Ok, thanks to every one , now i'll buy a hartke driver its the best option but i'm using the eminence just while i can buy the new one and i kindda like the way my cab looks , and the sound is very decent , the eminence sounds a little warmer than the hartkes and now my cab is unique of course i'm not gonna keep it that way but it works well , thanks again

Before you pay for a new driver, it's worth removing and replacing the suspect dust cap.

Ya, dust cap replacements are pretty easy. Just cut the old one off and leave a little extra paper from it to glue the new one on. If that's not the problem and it doesn't work, then go to plan B. If it does, your cab is fixed for very little $.

built these cabs myself..

you will note that two of the cones are different colors (upper left and lower right)...funny thing is they are all the same model and brand of speaker (Legends BP102's)...they were purchased from different retailers (my guess is different production runs?)

I got a better one coming. A pair of 3015 cabs and on top a wide combo with a single 10 ( the amp needs to drive something) and then a DI from the amp (using it as a preamp role) into a 1300 watt PA amp that driives the 3015s. Six foot high rig of danger!

What'smore likely is that the speakers will be spead about. AND this is for pending outdoor gigs this year where the sound just evaporates.
