HELP!!! tube question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,
I Just cleaned up my amp, and did some duct-tape at some area's,
STUPID to think that it would hold.
So the tape fell off because of the heat, and now there are some little tape marks on 2 of the tubes,
How do I clean this up with ordinairy house-hold stuff?
I have a Synthetic cloth and sticker-remover, should that do it?

Thanks!

Why did you ducktape your tubes?

I don't know about the synthetic cloth or sticker remover though.

Go to the store and buy bottled alky and use it to clean your tubes. Take them out of the amp and wipe with cloth heavily soaked. It will clean them.

You can also use that ALKY in a spray bottle to clean the inside of the amp also. Tilt chassis up on edge outside of the wood head or at angle and start spraying.

Spray contact cleaner will also work comes in spray can but is a lot more expensive.

Duct tape, BWAAHHAHAHAHAHA.

Yeah great.

duct tape huh..... Should I ask? haha

It would be the same as cleaning a high temp bulb. Alocohol swab or something like that and then dry it with a clean micro cloth.

don't forget to wear some sort of rubber gloves to protect the tube from the oil on your skin.

Why?? Tubes get nowhere near hot enough for the oils to matter.

Vegetable oil will work great for this.
Works on all sorts of sticky residue.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to do this very carefully with nail remover.
But I bought the amp second hand so the amp needs a retube anyway.
I did some duct tape on the topside inside, because the vynil was a little bit out of shape, lol the tape fell off because off the heat in less than 5 minutes haha.

Gheeessh my hart is pounding! LOL
