Help with using EQ on Fender Rumble 30

Sign in to disble this ad
High yall I have a fender Rumble amp and am having trouble setting the EQ on it. Its the first real bass amp I have ever owned so I don't realy know how to set an eq for bass. Previously I was swaping between 2 Alto PA systems my dad got me one is 1000w output and the other is 400w output (not sure what models they were). However neither of them really had a good eq to me (both only had an option to boost and cut lows and highs). When I used to play guitar (2004-2008) I had my amp eq set bass around 8 mids at 4 and highs at 7. I was going to use those settings as a starting point and tweak them for bass on the Rumble but it has a boost cut eq so I'm not sure what to do. I keep jacking with different settings but I never really get close to what I'm looking for. This is driving me crazy I've been playing bass for 3 1/2 years and still don't know how to set a bass amp because of those stupid PAs! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually Thats what Ive been doing. I set it flat and jack with it (since they're boost/cut) but when I get the BEA strings sounding good the d and g strings lack power of any kind. and when I get the dg strings sounding good the b is quiet as #@!!. So I don't really get whats going on with that. Thanks for the reply though man It is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like your bass needs a set up then.

Set the EQ all the way down, turn the gain up to 3 o'clock, turn the bass up to 4 O'clock, turn the treble all the way up and if you have a bass boost, turn it on.
Adjust the volume to suit.......I like it, maybe it you will as well.

I've had it set up several times. Could swaping between c standard and d standard throw the setup out of whack?

Wouldn't the mids be scooped in that case? I thought doing that would bury me in the mix.

Perhaps.......then bring the mids on the EQ on a little at a time till you find what you like. I'm going by my BXR100 that I only use for practice.
I still love all the ones I can get with this amp.
