Help with vintage bass stuff?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've been looking for q good amp setup since my little combo hasn't been working for my big venue gigs with a lack of pa...
I came across this "vintage bass setup" being sold locally that includes:
-Ampeg sr6 power mixer
-Traynor yna bass master
-Traynor yt 15 cab with "two 15s"
Frankly, I don't know what this stuff is.. :/
Any help?

Check you spelling, I think some model numbers are incorrect. If it is a YBA Bass Master, which one, 1, 2, 3? Is there an A suffix? I used to have a '60s YT-15 cabinet, I'd go for it, for sure, but, what are YOU looking for tonally, and otherwise? The powered mixer is probably useless for your needs.

Well... I'm looking for the "vintage" tone at the moment. I have got a nice passive jazz with flats and I play 99% jazz when I'm not in a pit orchestra, which is usually the same kind of stuff. Sorry about the spelling, I was trying to type on my ipod WHILE on the charging deck! The traynor is a yba 1, considering I don't even know what a powered mixer is I'm sure I can probobly go without out it and maybe work it out of the deal haha.

If its cheap, go for, is interesting stuff, I'd buy it just to see what I could do with it.

Depending on the price, a YBA1 with a YT-15 could be a fantastic deal, I'd certainly love to have the two of those together; did the seller mention what drivers are in the cabinet?

To find out what speakers are in the cabinet requires removing around 40 screws from the back, but I would do this if the seller does not know what he has he's selling! If all the controls work properly on the amp and it sounds good and reasonably clean when cranked up with no strange noises or excessive buzz or hum I would get it for that price. Take someome with you who knows about tube amps that can make sure things are okay with it. Check to see what kind of tubes are in the amp, and look over the physical condition of everything so there are no hidden suprises. Although, at that price I would expect some issues unless the seller is totally clueless as to the value of what he is selling, if so give him his money and grab the gear and scoot out of there!
