ok, I searched hi and low on TB and online in general..I can not find any info on the older Epifani NYC-610 bass cab? I'm looking to find out the weight, dimensions, and power handling mostly as I may be buying a used NYC-610 this week. Does anyone know where to find this info? or know it onhand?
edit:
link with specs: http://web.archive.org/web/200312171...i.com/610.html

I'll be keeping it at a weekly gig 24/7 and the bigger and heavier it is, the better, to a certain extent. I'll still need to lug it around for an occasional outside gig though. |

As long as I don't have to lift it often, I'll be fine. The best thing about cabs like this is they can be rolled up and down steps, and tilted into an suv for an easy schlep. Its rated at 104db sensitivity. A ported 610 with sensitivity like that its going to sound massive...I have a feeling this cab will also be part of my new outdoor events rig! |

So far, in the living room with my Fender Jazz/shuttle 9.0, this thing sounds incredible! It has that classic 'Epifani' tone/bark that I became very accustomed to, much like the UL410(I) that I gigged with for 3 years. It has the same wide/airy tone that likes tends to 'tighten up' with higher volumes. I don't hear ANY boominess at all, I actually had to boost the bass and low mids quite a bit to get a tone to my liking, and I like a mid heavy tone. It seems much like my ul410I being that the mid mids and high mids seem pronounced. This could be due to the fact that it needs more juice to really open up and push some serious air out those ports. I'll have it on it's first gig tomorrow night. I think this cabs a keeper!!! |

Wide open cab w/big low end of the DB750 just doesn't match well. I can EQ it to sound but it takes some extreme EQing, whereas the Shuttle 9.0 sounds huge through the 610, and cuts with just minimal EQing! With the tightness of the AE410, the DB750 dominates naturally! That's my favorite pairing...DB750/AE410! They compliment each other very well. I used to LOVE the Epifani UL502 through my UL410I, I bet one of the Epi amps with this UL610 would also match up nicely! |

Huge sounding, but not boomy at all. I used it at my weekly open mic gig so I was able to listen onstage and in the crowd as other bass players jammed a little. Onstage, where the band can get loud at times, it was big sounding, not boomy, the lows were perfectly balanced with the mids and highs. I like a very even sound, with a modern edge. Not mid scooped at all. It was so easy to dial in almost any tone. I could actually hear the windings of my strings cutting through. The best part, I didn't have to even turn that loud in order to hear and feel the bass, which also helped with keeping levels onstage to a comfortable level. I felt it sounded best with my back jazz pickup favored. I've used multiple stacked cabs in the past etc, but I think I may be a big cab convert now! With stacked cabs, I never fully got what I wanted out of them, except for the UL310 ul310 stack. With single cabs, many seem to sound great when you are right in front of them, or way out in the crowd. It's tough to have a cab that sounds equally well everywhere, there's always tradeoffs. With the NYC-610, I feel this cab has narrowed that gap of tradeoffs, it literally sounded great everywhere in the room(100'x100'). It didn't change character as I walked around either. Everything was so smooth and even, no matter where I stood onstage. Listening around the club(with no PA support), I could hear the bass everywhere, but it wasn't overbearing, just nicely blended tonally with the bass, and with the band as well. It wasn't an all lows type of tone, or all mids, it was very balanced and clear. The drummer, a few friends, and 2 other bass players were blown away at how good it sounded onstage and out front. I've been curious about the UL610, Aggie gs412 and db412 for some time now. I've gigged with the Berg NV610 and NV215, giving my vote to the NV215, for my style of playing anyways. Now I've have the opportunity to hear a true Epifani NYC 610 and so far I am very impressed. In the future, I'd love to try one of those Aguilar 412 cabs to compare, but for now, the NYC-610 will be doing the job just fine. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
