Henry 8x8 v. Berg NV425

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a chance to pick up a Berg NV425 locally for a fairly good price. I was thinking of eventually getting the 2-15, but none has cropped up. I currently have the 8x8 and like it very much. It is a newer one (which I heard the older ones were better).
I am using an Ashdown ABM500 and a GK800RB mainly, but Own a V-4 and a 2000S.

Money is tight but I don't see used Bergs much. What do you guys think? I think rockstarbassist has had both before.

Thanks Much, Bob

I can't help you but you have a very solid head collection. Bravo!

They seem to be pretty different animals, with the SWR being ported and all. The Berg should pair nicely with either of your tube heads though.

Expect more lows with the SWR, and tighter lows and more mids with the Berg.

I recall my NV425 as having a bit of scoop in the mids. Haven't heard the Henry, can't say how they compare.

I know they are discontinued and many seem to have "moved on" to something else. Even the NV215 is gone. I know I played one long ago in Sommerville, MA. If I remember right, it was very good sounding but I liked my 8-10 better at the time.
I am sensing that they were somewhat unpopular overall.

I am not even going to look at it until I sell my Bose901s. I can't justify buying another cab when I have everything covered now.
