Hidden Gems
 

Looking back over the years I've made all sorts of bad decisions selling equipment that was set up wrong - not the wrong equipment. Back in 2000 I bought a Laney HCM120, but felt it wasn't cutting it in a loud band. So...I bought another amp - an Ashdown MAG 250 C410.

Well many years later I have Eminence 3015s in both these amps and they are transformed. Both way louder, both much more able to handle more bass than when they had stock speakers.

This must be a common finding for bass players - kit that once upgraded is far more useable.

Anyone know any other hidden gem amps that just need decent speakers?

I know the Ashdown MAG280 with the single 15 is sold at auction for very little - something like £100/$145- but put a 3015 into it and it's a great little amp....my No 1 buy for a beginner starting in a band on a budget.
