Hey everyone
I purchased a Hiwatt custom 200 a few months back but held off on buying the hiwatt 4x10 as it just didnt seem to produce the sound I was looking for ( it wouldve if had a 15" with it) but living in NZ makes this gear a pain to get.
So any suggestions would be great! |

A 6x10 Bergantino would be great too.

George at www.bassgeardirect.com.au does great service here in the Australasia region. TIM1's a NZ bassis who recently grabbed a NV cab or 2 from him. The NV610 sounds GREAT & IMO far better than the SVT810 with an all tube beast. So does my NV215- but they aint available new anymore :-/ But I'd probly go for a new NV412- which would sound AWESOME with yr amp I would think!

Supposedly used by the Moody Blues keyboardist, but they were bass cab from what I could gather. Pretty sweet, would go pretty swimmingly with a Custom 200. Post a review when you get it rigged up with a cab.

| | | thanks heaps!!!
Ive been tryna find out about the Bergantino cabs ay, what was the shop over in NZ you were saying about.
I used the custom 200 on a livesound 8x10 which is a nz company which have actually made there 8x10 to the same specs as ampegs sounded like a beast!!!
I am going to try an ashdown abm this weekend and see how that is I find on some cabs I have tried I struggle to get a massive low where on the ampegs I am able to get easy as,
I am def interested in the Bergantino cabs though, Reeves are nice but importing costs etc make it a bit unpracticle
I must say im leaning on going 8x10 ampeg aniversary model.
Ill see how the ashdown goes have heard great things on them!!!! |

Except for having 1 more 12ax7 in the pre and therefore a bit more gain, same controls and weird interactive tone stack, partridge transformers and even the sleeve was made by the same Essex joinery factory.
I like it best with a pair of old ampeg 115 cabs with Altec 418 series 11 drivers.
Its just draw droppingly beautiful as far as I am concerned
there just isn't a better sound if we are talking fifteens, they are gobsmackingly efficient too.
Or get your self an old Sunn two by fifteen with JBL K140's its a very similar sound but with a little less low mid/bass. |
