Just a wild shot: a friend of a friend told me I should try the Maxwatt G200. That is obviously a guitar amp. The old ones were "ap" and for both guitar, bass and whatever. So my question is: A Maxwatt G200 would be a waste of time for bass, right?
Bad move there selling the old Hiwatt !!

Don't go after the G200. It's Solid state and a different kind of thing. As someone said before. It's the cheaper line of Hiwatt. Saying that, i'd get one of their B300 heads or combos, with no doubt. Are chinese, yes (like Ipads, Iphones and stuff) but are built like a tank... Solid state, again... Nothing to do with a tube amp.
Read this.
I had a 1973 Hiwatt DR103.. it was awesome !! with it wasn't enough power for me.. so i sold it. Now i own one of the BRAND NEW Hiwatt Custom 400. Can't be happier. It's a bomb and it sounds just like the old one.
A lot of people bash the new line of hiwatts (most of them are vintage) due to some issues with the owners of the brand... i don't give a **** about the owners. This is a quality handmade amp.
In a few days it's the end of the world. The only things that will stay alive after the end are the cockroaches and Hiwatts. (ok.. ok.. some Ampegs too)

Guys. just don't follow what some bashers say. If you have a chance, buy one. You won't be dissapointed.

here's mine

Man, your bass breaks my heart. I used to have a 79 that looked just like yours and I sold it because I got used to the 9.25" radius neck and didn't like the 70's neck. But I love the look of that era Precision SOOOOO much! Never looked better in my life with a bass. I want another black Precision like that but with the flatter neck. Sadly, my wife does not.

Oh.. i love this bass, man ! Never played a P like this one. I've compared it against another two 1978s.. and this one beat the hell out of the other two. The owners of the other Ps couldn't believe the difference. It's heavier, warmer, punchier.
If you ever have the chance.. just get one again !

Cheers !

Oh dear! That picture almost brings tears to my eyes. I have a '76 Precision looking just like that. Now I HAVE to get a good amp and cab.

I really want a 4x12 cab and not the 4x10, though. (Yes, I am old fashioned) How does the new 4x10 sound, by the way? Compared to the good old 4x12?

I once had a guitarist friend that got rid of his "cheap Hiwatt" for a Marshall.

and P2P means peer to peer networking (illicit file sharing like torrents) in my line of work.

Works just fine for licit files too. Also person-to-person in HR jargon.
