Homemade Amp! w/ audio clip!

http://soundcloud.com/langdon-studio...not-condemn-me

here's a sample of a 14w 6V6 homemade amp paired with a Bassman 2x15 cab.

the same amp was used for the guitar parts but ran through a Marshall 4x12.

This thread is more or less letting you know that in the studio, you can get some pretty beasty tones from really low-budget amp building. enjoy!

Is this a kit or something you came up with on your own?

I'm thinking what we're hearing is Protools/digital recording. I think you would have got the same over all bass sound just going straight into the board. ...... Sounds like an over-driven P-bass played with a pick.
Not knocking the track, you guys did a nice job.

the design is based off of the old Marshall 18w, only with 6V6's in it.

just volume and tone knobs. no NFB or anything.

i know you're not "picking" on me, haha...
i recorded everything via mics, even the organ!
and there's a distinct difference when going direct vs. micing a cab. there's more body there. i USED to use a Bass POD for all my recordings, but once i got a decent sounding amp (V4, then this 14watter) i've been micing ever since.

Lots of mid-bass and no bottom end. Does not fit well in the mix IMHO.

I dunno. I think the mid-y bass works pretty well for this track. Sometimes that's what it calls for. imo, it works. Not exactly my tone, but still good.
