The Honeymoon is over.....

Well the Honeymoon is over.

I've had my Peavey Tour VB-2 and Ampeg B410HE for a year now and I find myself playing on my Kustom Groove 310c more and more.

I'm almost certain it's the cab (B410HE) that is the weakest link. I had a crazy Idea. I'm thinking about cutting the amp out of the Kustom Groove 310c. I love the cab it's heavy, unwieldy and huge. But damn does it produce the low-end.

My question is, "Will I be able to rewire the 3 10' cabinet to be a 2,4,8 ohm cabinet?

don't know, but if you get it fairly close, it should be fine since impedance isn't static.

Is the Kustom able to produce the low-end so well with out the flub due to the deepness of of the Kustom Cab?

I suspect he was referring to the Ampeg being the weak link, and the Kustom producing the big low-end.

That's a good-looking combo, by the way.

Edit: are you able to try the Peavey with the Kustom cab before you tear the amp out? Just in case it's the Peavey that's the weak link?
Or, keep the Kustom intact, ditch the Ampeg and get a whole new cab for the Peavey?

Here is my opinion, since the Ampeg 4x10HE (high end) only goes down to 60 Hz (-3 dB) it is not surprising to me at all that you don't think it is giving you enough low end. Before you move anything, try adding an Ampeg 1x15E on top of the 4x10HE. IME this is a much better full range rig and will get you where you are trying to go. Cheers.

It's also a ported cab. Porting tends to extend low-end response

It's made to power any combination of cabinets with a combined impedance of 2-8 ohms.

I agree that you should try the VB-2 with another cabinet. I too was underwhelmed by the lows that came out of my 410HE.

There is no reason you can't wire the Kustom combo to work with the VB-2 if that's what you want to do.

No worries but yes, I'm speaking about the Kustom Groove 310c when I speak about the huge low-end. It just lacks a bit in the tone department, the amp while powerful isn't the best sounding on the block. Doesn't sound bad, just not as good as the Peavey in my ears. I've only got to try the peavey on a few other cabs, dragging that thing around isn't fun. I hate bring stuff into guitar center with the horrible sales associates bad mouthing my gear or just sitting over my shoulder being the douche bags the vast majority are; I can't stand to bring my gear in that place anymore.

I've tried that, by using the the tuner signal from the Peavey to Kustom's power amp; but it seems that it bypasses all the eq'ing options on both amps so I can't really eq anything to taste.

The problem is likely due to you living in Madisonville

I lived in Lexington from 2002 - 2009.

Had to move back due to the ridiculous nature of housing prices in that city. I do miss Carl's music right up the street from my house, though.
