"Honking" High Notes?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a Peavey Firebass 700 head, and have it running into a Peavey 410 tx cab. It sounds really good when the gain is low, but whenever I turn the gain and volume up, notes higher on the fretboard "honk" loudly. It's only on notes higher than the 13th fret that it happens.

Just wondering what the cause of this is, and how it could be counteracted.

1st thing that I think of is eq it out. Turn tweeter off.....
Is this an option?

make sure your gain is lower than your master or you'll be overdriving it.

Alright, EQing plus reducing the gain seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks guys!
