Horrible Clipping Problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, new here.

I've got a Hartke HA3000 head running through a Hartke VX 410a cab. The clipping light is constantly coming on. Sometimes when I first turn it on, no sound comes out too.

I really need help with this. Could it be something as simple as the head and amp not being compatible, or is this likely something I need to fix/replace? Permanent damage?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Sometimes the clip light comes on when the protection is "on" due to a short.

Check wires and speaker for a short.

I've found over the years when I see my clipping light staying on too much, a bit of adjustment with the volume knob and the master volume usually clears it up. I see this more with active basses, where backing off one of the knobs seems to clear up the clipping and I can still get plenty of volume by uping the other. Worth a try for a simple fix.

Turnmeto 11,

The HA3000 is an older Hartke amplifier discontinued around 2003. Just give my service manager Joe Antonelli a call and he will help you out. 1-800-328-2882

I have both active and passive basses. I tried adjusting the volume with both and I'm still getting clipping when the amp volume gets around halfway.

If this is a short, how would I go about checking for that?

I have a same problem. I use Ha3000 with GK 115T cabinet , and play Aria Precision(passive b.) copy (with DiMarzio pu from 70). When i play through the input 1(for passive) clipping start at 2 and distortion around 5. When i go through input 2 (for act.) clipping start at 4-5, and sound is clean, even on 10.
I'm from Serbia(Europe), and i can't call from here U.S.-service manager (lot of $$), so please contact me on mail, if you have an answer.
