Hello friends, I had sore throat and I didn't play bass that days. Today, I played the bass and the amp had a terrible sound, a bad sound with a "sssssssssssss" in the background.
Please help me !
My amp is a Peavey MINX 110 Made in U.S.A.

One problem with the MINX 110, at least the final version, is the input jack and the way it's mounted. It's soldered in four spots on the circuit board with the nut attaching it to the faceplate. By accident or abuse, the plug gets knocked, and with the faceplate acting as a fulcrum, the jack rocks up, pulling the soldered joint loose. I bought an amp from eBay that wasn't working, and that's just what happened to me. An easy, but time consuming fix. Of course we should rule out the usual suspects such as preamp battery, cord, etc.

Does the input jack wiggle or feel loose with the cord plugged in? Mine felt loose, and when I GENTLY wiggled the cord I could hear a change in noise from the contacts hitting. I dropped the chassis and looking from the side I saw the loose/rocking jack. I stress doing this GENTLY, because if this isn't the problem, we don't want to create a new one!

Does it make the noise whether a cord with guitar is plugged in or not?

Does the amp make the horrible noise ONLY with the guitar plugged in? Or does it make the horrible noise whether you have your guitar plugged in or not?

Do you have another amp to plug your guitar into to make sure it's not your guitar or cord?

I guess there's a language barrier going on here. Lucho.Metal, what's your native language? I've found TB to be surprisingly multilingual.

Thanks Silky. I want to avoid creating another problem instead of fixing one!

I don't have another amp.
The noise is with the bass plugged in.
