Now, the new gear they have out both in amps and cabinets as well seem to be liked much more than the previous lineup of bass equipment. At least that is what TB is telling me.
I have been eying some of their new BX amps lately as they are very affordable and TB tells me they sound pretty snaz to boot.
Edit: I had an Epifani that replaced my RL-410. The single 12 Epi had more everything than the Carvin had. However, I spent more on the single 12 than the carvin cost new!

Never seens a piece of Carvin gear that wasn't a workmanlike bit of kit at sold at a very reasonable price.
Carvin is a "you get what you pay for - and a bit more" proposition IMO.
Have had a couple of Avatar cabs and I feel the same way about them.... you can do better but you'll pay a premuim or build it yourself. |

If I wasn't a wuss about weight I'd own a BRX4.10. I personally don't care for the other carvin cabs but I know they've been revised so can't speak to the newer cabs. The older ones are decent for what you get but nothing special.

FWIW most of the places I play are more or less the same size, type of bar/pub. The cab decision comes down to ease of load in and/or size of stage. I find that as long as I back the cab up against a wall it sounds plenty deep and plenty loud (330w into 4 ohms). It does suffer when standing out in the open so I don't use it at outdoor gigs.
Certainly can't beat it for the $100 used I paid fot it.

The BRX cabs are awesome. Not especially colored sound (EVERYTHING colors the sound somewhat, even if it isn't trying to, and no matter what it cost). I'd agree with the "full, deep, great clarity" comment.
