How to check if speakers are working?
Hello, I'm running an SVT-4 Pro through a matching 8x10E cab and I have a feeling some of the speakers aren't working.
I took the grill off and all the speakers were vibrating, but I how can I check for sure?

take the end of your speaker cable you would plug in your amp and hold the tip to the positive terminal of a 9 volt battery and the sleeve to the negative terminal. they should all move when you do this.

Leave a speaker cable plugged into your cab, on the free end of the 1/4" plug touch a 9 volt battery + to the tip. All speaker cones) should move the same amount (should be out). If you have some that don't move or move in when the speaker next to it moves out you have some problems. Also listen for scraping sounds, you should only hear thumps or one click.

The standard test is to use a battery, and touch the contacts to the +\- of the speaker wire. If all they speakers jump, they are most likely ok. I like to gently pressing on the cones about 1cm to feel and listen for the voice coils rubbing as well. They should move freely. If you have acces to a multimeter you can check the impedance as well. If you don't read about 4 ohms, you might have an issue. I believe each individual drivers are 16 ohms apiece.
