How to choose the right Micro Amp

Hey guys, I want to buy a micro amp, but don't know which one.
Could you help me out?

I am looking for a balanced combination for power and fidelity. I tend to like more a gritty sound than a fat bass sound. With 400w is more than enough for my rig.

Here are my options so far:

Taurus Qube 450
Aguilar Tone Hammer 500
Gallien-Krueger MB800
Genz-Benz Shuttle 9.2 / 6.2

The GK MB-Fusion would probably be better than the MB800 if you want gritty over fat.

The MB800 is twice the maximum wattage you specified as well...not that there's anything wrong with having more headroom. Unless you meant 400 watts @ 8 ohms, rather than @ 4 ohms (you didn't specify... )

FWIW, at least by reputation the Tone Hammer is the grittiest amp I know on that list.

I'd consider the Streamliner 600 rather than the shuttle 6.2. A much nicer sounding overdrive and loads of low end grunt.

I was gonna buy the Shuttle, but was blow away by the streamliner

thanks for the replies. I tested today a little mark III. Nice gritty and punchy sound. Have any of you tested it?

+1

This is more important than the amp IMHO.

I find littlemark amps too clean for my tastes.

I would not describe the LMark as "gritty" at all. If you dig it, buy it :-)

I've always associated Markbass amps with a very clean focussed tone?
