How do I get cat pee out of grille cloth?

Sign in to disble this ad
My outdoor cats like to sneak into my music room and pee on the grille cloth. What products can I use to get rid of the dried pee?

Thanks!

Dip the cat in alcohol and start scrubbing.

Does the grill come off ? Its gonna be hard to clean with speakers behind it. Natures Miracle is your best bet.

you may want to invest in covers or at least cover your cab with a large garbage bag, this will also help to keep them from using the grill cloth as a scratching post.

if its the same cat you have pictured, its the size of a small mountain lion .. may want to keep a giant hefty bag around and slide over your gear when not playing ... might want to put a picture of a huge, angry german shepard on the front of it

Edit .. Rob, GMTA

Buy a large dog and keep it in your music room.

There's stuff called 'Get Serious!' that we use around here. You can find it at PetSmart, et al. It's a tad on the $$ side, but it works like nothing I've ever seen. Removes the pheromone smell that helps an animal recognize favorite pee spots.

Your cabinet is toast, history, like later dude.
There is nothing that you can do.

Search the products "Natures Miracle" and/or "Odoban", they're for cleaning out apartments after people lived there with a dozen cats and it works. Should be some household remedies that'll do it too. Vinegar and baking soda works on a lot of stuff. Cat pee is like ammonia. Find something to neutralize ammonia. Just don't combine bleach and ammonia.

Bleach gets the amonia smell right on out of there. Get color safe though.

mentioned this thread to my better half, after a bit of a giggle she typed the following................

A damp sponge first to wet the grill, then pat it dry to get rid of any excess. Then use diluted white vinegar with water on a sponge and dab that on top, then just leave to dry.
The vinegar will get rid of any nasty bacteria that's lurking and get rid of the smell, it should also stop the cat from doing it again as it won't smell very nice to them. also, in future face the cab to the wall,,, just in case

There is a product called wee-pee that i use. I have a 13 yr old cat who pees on everything. This was the first product to get the smell out

If you are able to get the smell out, it may be a good idea to spray some kind of deterrent stuff/product on there. Like I saw a pet show on TV once in which the host showed how to make your own stuff by mixing some paprika in a solution & putting it in a spray bottle. I'm sure a quick search on the net would yield 1000's of results.

Hydrogen peroxide.

Works like liquid baking soda. Neutralizes the active odor molecules.

If the pee got on the cone it will always be wet and effectively useless. Sorry, but I've been there with a Gauss 18.

Actually the cat on my Avatar "Cloudy" is dead. She was a great cat....except for the cat fur. The culprits I am referring to are "Jake" and "Elwood" her brothers. They are fixed but just can't stop spraying. So a few years ago they were banished to the outdoors. Which they actually prefer.

Any change they get they sneak inside. Jake heads for the workshop and Elwood heads for the music room. They just can't resist marking their territory.

I actually prefer metal grilles because you can rinse off the urine residue. Grille cloth is another matter.

I don't believe you can get cat pee out of grill cloth. I think you can only get cat pee out of cats. (Sorry. I couldn't resist!)

Nothing ‘really’ works other than replacing the cabinet. Besides, if your cats are just going to keep doing it - why bother?
