how do i hook up a preamp?

alright im completely new to the whole rack mount thing. right now i have a ampeg svt-5 and an ampeg svt-IIP pre-amp. how do i hook it up to svt-5? would it go through the effects loop?

Can do. or put it in between the bass and the main amp input. That's how Jimmy prefers it.
