How do you run your GK 1001rb/700rb??

Just curious how everyone has their GK amps set?

I don't run tweeters, so I don't bi-amp, if that matters.

Do you crank the 'woofer' volume and adjust your volume with the 'input volume' knob, or leave the 'input volume' set and use the 'woofer' for volume?

My 700RB I set the Woofer at about 2 o'clock and adjust the input volume knob from there.

On my 1001 rb, I crank the woofer to about almost all the way (to prevent some hiss) then mess with the volume. If I really want more sound, I turn up the boost. Works good for me

700rb-II:

Input volume @ 10 o'clock
Boost @ 12 o'clock
Woofer Volume set to volume needs - usually between 10-12 o'clock...

Everything else @ 12 o'clock, except Low-Mids @ 1 o'clock...

Haven't used my 1001 combo for a while (Want to buy it? Click the link in my sig for the sale thread!), but I used to set the input volume to suit my bass's level, then woofer level for the SPL I wanted, then tweeter level for the brightness I wanted.

Does anyone really know what contour and presence do? This is driving me nuts. I can hear a difference, but I can't seem to characterize where in the eq it is changing?

Does Anyone use it?

From an engineering perspective can anyone tell me what in the amp's spectrum it is doing? or is it time domain?

I was told that the "contour" knob was like a mid-scooper. I am still trying to dial in my sound on my 700RB-II.

is the woofer knob like the maaster and the volume is your pre amp gain then?? Is it bad to run that woofer or boost knob real high?? i have 2 8 ohm 4x10 ampeg cabs and at the gig it seemed like i had volume, boost and woofer at noon.. or close to... does this seem wrong?

Yes, volume is the pre-amp gain. The more your volume knob is turned up, the more effect the boost knob has on your sound, which is why I like to run my volume real high

should the woofer knob be higher for cleaner tone if thats the 'power' side of things?

I'm running a GK amp set (2 4x10 and 1 8x10) with an ampeg head (1000 watt) I find this more ranged and better for tone, also a he'll of alot louder than anything else I've run, even my old PA system. All together about 1100 watts... Crazy right? But I have a question, my speakers are a brass color on both my cabs, they seem to be aluminum... What dose this do to my sound and what's the difference from a paper speaker? This is one of my first huge bass rigs and don't know alot about it.
