I have an MB500 that I take to gigs as a backup to my rack pre-power amp set up. My cabs are: Aggie GS212 and Aggie S410. Each cab is 4 ohm, only allowing one cab on this head. I've been thinking of selling my perfectly good cabs in order to get 8 ohm cabs, and looking into purchasing an MB 800, so that I can use both cabs if needed for larger gigs.
Then it dawned on me that I should just get another MB500, rack both units, and have a bi-amp set up for both cabs when needed, and have my backup head already racked for when I just use one cab. Heck of alot cheaper than swapping cabs, and buying the 800. It'll get louder too. I can also use my Maxcom dual channel compressor to affect each head.
Does anyone see any potential negatives here, or is it as cool as I think? Anyone else doing this?
