- Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II paired with a Gallien-Krueger Neo 2x12
- Markbass Little Mark III paired with an Epifani UL2-410
I mostly use the GK but if I'm in the mood for something different, I take the Markbass/Epifani.

I have gotten rid of the big lead sleds .... but I always will have a few amps that will come and go, as I like to try new amps |

Ampeg SVT3 Pro with SVTHLF 4X10 is my main gigging rig
Sunn Concert bass head at a friends garage studio
SWR 350 as a backup to my Ampeg (or when my mood changes)
Peavey Micro Bass combo at a guitar players house
Behringer 1200 at my house for practicing
Behringer BX600 at my office for practicing
Fender BXR300C combo that I have had for 20 years. Still sounds great and keep it for sentimental reasons.
As you can see, I'm not into lugging bass rigs around to practice sessions. |

For me, I like to have different basses for different tone styles but this doesn't mean that I have 20 basses, I prefer to have 4-5 basses that resume all the different kind of tones that todays are available, because at the end, the basses I use are always the same. Other staff are just collection tools or a rare use ones.
For amp when you have a couple of preamp style tones that can offer different sounds possibility what do you need more?
Amp and cabs just depending from what kind of live/studio gig you play! | I agree I have 8 basses each has it's own tone and feel. They all see gig time not one is hanging on a wall collecting dust. As for amps I have many but collected them through years of performing and need different sounds for different situation I just never got rid of them they are in my home studio

1968 Kustom200: My vintage sounding wunderamp. A P Bass with flats going into this head and through 1 or 2 15" speakers is what bassy dreams are made of.
1980's GK 400rb: My most played amp. It's usually going through a 4x10 or 6x10. It's what i use more for more modern sounding tones and/or when i use pedals. It's also much nicer for an active bass than the kustom. It's pretty light too, so it's nice to travel with.
1980's GK 800rb: Oddly, my least played amp. It's been on an almost indefinite loan to a friend for a while now. It sounds like the 400rb with a little bit more 'oomph'. Buuuut... i haven't needed that 'oomph' in years. I don't play in heavy bands any more, and in my loud/noisy bands i bi-amp the Kustom and 400rb.
Peavey 1x12 Combo: My Practice-at-home-and-i-don't-want-to-annoy-the-neighbors amp.
VOX Headphone amp: My Practice-at-home-and-i-don't-want-to-wake/annoy-my-girlfriend amp.
I don't really have a ton of GAS these days. I don't like tube amps that much (i've owned quite a few)... but i WOULD love to own an ampeg b15. Realistically though, i'd like maybe a GK 210mb... a solid swiss-army-amp that could work for home practice, band practice, and shows (with an extension cab).

Like them for various reasons and in this economy would have trouble giving them away, so I hang onto them and try to rotate which ones I use at home. Never set out to build a "stable" or collect. Haven't found one amp that can produce every type of bass tone that I like. Fender 400PS (main amp) Great vintage rock tone on 1 channel, full range clear sound on the other. Overall the 2nd best sounding amp and certainly the loudest tube amp I've heard. Sound City X188 Average sounding bass tones until it gets loud enough to push the tubes. At those (ear splitting) levels it has glorious, bright vintage Who-flavored distortion. Mesa D-180 Versatile. Legendary Mesa tube bass tone similar to a 400 or +. Tricky controls but a very flexible, controllable distortion at any volume. Great sounding distortion, but cannot get the edgy vintage Who tone the SC has. Deadly guitar amp also. B15 The best sounding bass amp I've ever heard. After finally playing one, had to have one. Only drawback is lack of power, but that has its uses too. This one stays in my home studio. Also used with electronic drums and keyboards. Roland Bass Cube Solo practice amp. Some of the effects are pretty neat, it was fun to plug it into the big Fender.
Until recently, Genz Neo Pak was my backup/portable/multi instrument amp. Transformer started screaming when I turn it on, and I can barely afford food so it sits until I can get it fixed. Well out of warranty, no paperwork, so I'm not going to hassle the excellent guys at Genz until I have some $. Was a great amp.
Also have a couple guitar amps that I've used for recording bass, a '65 Champ and a Mesa Rocket 440.
A variety of cabs, mix and match as needed. Mostly 4 Ohms due to the Fender. Subs, 1 small modern full range cab, 1 huge vintage cab, and one with an EVM 15L because that is the sound of rock and roll.

I'm also a big fan of Eminence Legends, but I'm kinda GASing for something with a tweeter.

Want to add a lead sled to the mix and a lighter head for URB. Then I should be happy.
Cabs are another story though.

- Peavey Classic 400
- Carvin B1500
- Ampeg V4B
- Peavey Century 120 Bass Series
Speaker cabinets are:
- (2) Sunn 410 cabs from 1999
- Peavey 215 with McCaulley speakers
- BFM Omni 212 Tallboy
That gives me lots of options... |

Mesa M-2000- the main head
Eden WTDI - in the effects loop of the mesa, or stand alone pre for the poweramp
Peavey Mark VI - the back up head, bringing this along prevents any equipment problems
Behringer Nu6000 - the slave power amp fed by either the Mesa or Eden, this can power one or both cabs
Mesa 2x15" - used for rehearsals and smaller gigs, powered by the M-2000
Fender PRO 8x10" - get's hauled out and plugged in next to the 2x15 for bigger gigs and get's powered by the Nu6000.
That's 9 combinations of amps and cabs.
We wont even get into the PodXT

What gets the play time? The Fusion 550 with either a G-K NEO412 or NEO212 II.
In 40+ years of gigging I personally have been completely happy for a good while now.

2. GK MB800
3. Carvin HD1500
I want to sell either the Carvin or the mB800, but I like them both alot. A 5LB 800w amp that sounds that great is hard to let go and the 10LB poweramp can be used in multiple different ways... not sure what to do, but having three is excessive for me.
