i've had a Genz 9.0 that i've used with different pedals to get that clean / overdriven tone, has worked well thru the years
just added a Fender Super Bassman 300 & think i've finally found my personal Holy Grail
still waiting on a custom cab to show up on my doorstep, a BigE 4x8, it should be more than enough cab for the gigs we do |

| | | | MY main gigging amp is a SVT3Pro over a SVT410HLF. My backup amps are little more interesting:
'73 Sunn Model T
'74 Sunn Model T
'65 Showman with A K140JBL
'67 Dual Showman with 2 D140JBL's
Along with many different cabinet combinations ( all with JBL's of some kind) |

I use an Ampeg PF500 as backup. At home my practice/ alternate rig is an Eden WT330 and a pair of GK 115MBX cabs or Avatar B410 Neo cab. In the shadows is a Peavey TKO 65, a Nemesis NC210 combo, a dead Peavey Minx and a Gorilla 35 watt combo.

Technically, none. My main amp is a Bugera 1960, which is actually a guitar amp (clone of Marshall 1959 Super Lead). But it just sounds so phenomenal with bass that I sold off my Genz Benz. My practice amp is also my main guitar amp (Marshall JTM). It doesn't have as much low-end, but it sounds similar enough to my main amp that it's great for practice and dialing in my effects at home before bringing them to rehearsal. |

They are an Ampeg BA115, and a Kustom150. The Kustom is more of a collector's item at this point to me, it's not really useful as it's not very loud, plus it sounds like crap (I think the speaker might be blown), it wouldn't even serve well as a practice amp.

I run a GK 1001 RB through either one or two Musicman Audiophile HD210 cabs.
I tried to find what made me sound the best at 12:00 on the head, then I dink with the settings depending on what I play. The combo I have seems to do that the best..gives me the smoothest mids I've found so far. Then between the head and the preamp on my Spector, I seem to be able to work well within my own play and achieve various effects, even though I own no pedals or tube pre's or anything beyond the above mentioned.
That seems to work for me ATM as I don't gig yet. I would like some pedals (compressor mostly) to play around more, but I'm happy with what I have, being a first-year beginner. I'll probably go for an Aguilar head if/when I GAS for another one. Maybe a used Eden. Mostly to have more flex and for a backup if I do gig down the road.

| | Registered User | | | | My '73 SVt w/ original 810 is pretty much my amp of choice, but I rarely decide to put my back through the pain of gigging with it (especially the fridge).
SVT3-Pro that I'll drag out for smaller gigs.
2 mid-60s B18N's that I use for practice/studio stuff.
'73 Fender bassman, occasional studio stuff but primarily I use it as a guitar amp for writing/goofing off.
Fargen Ampeg clone that collects dust.
Depending on the size of the gig I'll either take out one of my GK RBH cabinets, or my Sonic 18" & 210 cabs.
Its nice to have options anyway

Mesa Walkabout
GB Shuttle 6.0
Ampeg V4 (really a guitar head but there's very little difference and I'm getting one channel "V4Bed".)
Old Fender PA 100 - really an old PA head but all tube and sounds like BUTTAH with a Pbass
Tons of cabs. I'm tripping over the things (literally). I have one in my living room with the PA 100 that my kid uses to sing along with movies! (Still sounds like BUTTAH!)

While I miss my old Hagstrom Swede, I couldn't be happier with this setup. Love it so much I bought the second 210 for it just this last week. Not too shabby, considering I haven't even broken a grand on the rig!

I have a lot of amp models(Line 6 Bass PODXTLive modified and Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro).
The Line 6 models I use the most are amps I've used over the past 40 years(they come close): SVT, Acoustic 360(370), Fender Bassman. Those with various EQ's and effects in the modellers are all that is needed.
Hint for Line 6 users: the factory settings for SVT were lame(IMO). Once I started setting the "amp" model the same way I set my SVT for over a decade, things got 110% better!

(Scout 12" combo) Gallien Krueger MB Fusion- I use this for rehearsing (it fits in my gig bag, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a gig. It's amazing.) SWR 220 Studio- This one is over at a friend's house... his son has been using it for the last 6 or 7 years. I'd use it if I were desperate.
