How many people here plays through a guitar amp with a bass cab?

I'm curious, this setup seems pretty rockin' to me, but how many people actually go with this for "their sound"?

I've played through half-stacks with speakers rated at 300 watts before, but I've only gigged with a guitar head through a bass cab once--and I didn't like it.
I like the sound of my Triple XXX half-stack for straight-up rock work, but these days it's too much of a pain to drag it to gigs, and I prefer to go direct and hear myself through a monitor rather than mess with a mic and onstage rig.

I'd probably do it again in the studio...but still no bass cab. It removes all the gravel from the bass-through-half-stack combination.

I have a '68 Bassman and a '69 Ampeg B25. The Bassman was originally for bass but is considered a top-notch guitar amp these days and not so much for bass. The Ampeg was originally a guitar amp (the B25B was the bass version), but it is my main head. I love the sound of old tube heads. The Bassman actually sounds better to me since I got the B25. I play them through an SVT15E, SVT410HE, and '71 Bassman cab w/2x15's.

I used a fender solid state guitar head for a while with my 810... it sounded pretty lame though. As soon as I had enough cash to buy a real bass amp I gave the guitar head back to my 4x12 guitar cab.

for the highs/mids/distortion, I'm using an all tube Peavey Valveking 100. it's going to be ran through a 2x10 with a 6" mid driver. I've ran it through a number of other cabs (4x10's) and it sounds pretty damn good.

I used to use a Marshall 100 watt lead head plugged in a Sunn 215BH. Loved the sound of my EB-3 through it, and volume was rarely an issue.

I do this all the time.. guitar heads to bass tuned cabs..

Quite commonly I'll also run a mixer amp with graphic EQ to a bass cab.

I just sent a Crate Power Block to a well respected bassist.

Many times you can by pass the guitar preamp and just use the power amp fired by a tone shaping DI.

I did club gigs for years using a solid state 2x12 guitar amp..

Most bassists forget that an average paying audience member can not hear all the effort that goes into bringing my SVT fridge to a gig..

I could imagine!! And I mean, look at a band like Motorhead, 1 guitar, 1 bass and a drumkit - YET their sound is SO HUGE! And I think Lemmy's bass sound does a lot of the work!

Before I sold my Fender Blues DeVille 4x10, I would use it as a bass amp for small rehearsals. Since the main amp of the DeVille was a '59 Bassman, it would work out very well. Now I just bring a BRX10.2 neo cab and my BX500 to rehearsal when I need to, but that's very rarely do I need to.

i have an ampeg v4 guitar head that I use from time to time. It was actually the first amp that I had when I started playing bass.

I played that through a 412 v4 guitar cab. soon, I got a gk 210t and used that combo for the longest time. I've since moved on to "real" bass gear, but that rig sounded great. Still does.

Hi.

Not anymore as much as I used to (JMP1959+JCM800 2*15"&4*12").

As a matter of a fact, if and when I mod (replace) the pre-section of my Fame, it'll be based on 1959.

Regards
Sam
