Question How should I pack my Fender Rumble amp for the road?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm moving to a different city in a couple of weeks and am gonna be driving there in a 10 foot U-Haul truck. Not sure how I should pack my amp or if I should even pack it at all. It's a Fender Rumble 100.. about half a meter tall and three quarters of a meter wide.

Should I get a custom-made box for it? Or just bubble-wrap the **** out of it and put it in the truck? What would you guys do?

This amp is my baby and I want to make sure it gets there safe.

About a year ago I moved 400 miles, with all our belongings inside a single large moving truck. To pack my bass amps:

> The amps were the first thing loaded, with a piece of cardboard between the front wall of the truck and the line of amps / speakers;
> Each piece of equipment was individually wrapped in at least one moving blanket (we rented a lot of them);
> Nylon rope was used to tie each piece of equipment to the truck wall, and then a final rope was used to bind all the equipment together (which was probably overkill).
> The amps were packed and tied as close together as possible.
> Once the line of amps and speakers were secured, other belongings were packed on top of them all the way to the ceiling.

Upon arrival and unloading into a storage unit, there was no damage to any equipment.

This amp is your baby. Put it on your passenger's seat. Be sure to use the seatbelt!
