Question How will you destroy your Mark Bass amp when it breaks (repairs cost more than amp)

Sign in to disble this ad
My first thought was if/when my MKII head breaks I would send it to a known cool repair shop to slavage parts for the next guy (which I have done with tube equipment before).

After the last big rave up here, I'm thinking that even with a known working board, only the warranty repair shops will be able to touble shoot effeciently as the schematics are not available, and that these shops will be bound by factory repair orders.

I'm thinking something simple like an 8lb. sledge hammer. Could you flatten it in 3 or 4 blows?

I'm thinking this is right up there with the dumbest threads I've seen on Talk Bass.

You could use it for a paperweight .

Send it to me. I'll reverse-engineer it and make schematics, which will then be available for non-warranty repairmen (free, of course).

I have an idea! Why don't you just smash it to $#!+ right now and save yourself the trouble of waiting. Have one of your buddies video tape it!

I'd see if I could figure out a way to salvage the eq section / DI as a preamp

Yeah this and all of those threads which clearly state "for repairs I have to mail my markbass to italy! it isn't cheap!" Those guys really were dumb.

If this seems confusing, it is based on the vibe from nearly 350 posts on this thread:

I have a 400 ton press break that would turn it into a super-slim micro amp.

Now I'm confused - just a few days ago I read this:

I'm off tomorrow, but will post the info when I get to work on wed. Maybe this will put out this fire people have burning under their pants right now.

Talking Giving mine due honors

I had some elaborate ideas about what to do with my first CD burner because it was such a royal pain to use, even before it stopped working.

I feel a lot more affection for my LMII because it's proven to be so handy and (knock on wood) mine's been plenty reliable.

Maybe when the time comes, I'll bury it in the back yard, next to the cat.
