how to wire for 8 ohm

Sign in to disble this ad
so i just picked up to ancient kustom tnr cabs that have 2-15s and a 15" siren horn. i found a site of folks that collect these old things and a guy there siad they used this same cab for bass with 3-15s. i got these for nothing and there cool looking cabs. thought about loading 3-15s and wiring to 8 ohm if possible to use both or 2-15s and make the horn opening to hold a mid. i know its prolly overkill but gives me a winter project. any ideas on wiring or how to mod these?

I'm sorry but I don't understand your question at all. Could you try to be clear about how many cabs you have, what drivers are in each one, what you want to use and and why you're asking for wiring advice? As it stands your post is pretty much incomprehensible (to me, anyway).

the blue rig is a 3-15 bass amp, the white pa sys is the speakers i have, as you can see they are the same cab other than the white pa cabs have a 15" siren horn where the top 15" driver is on the bass cabs. i want to make 2 of th 3-15 bass cabs from the 2-15/horn cabs. i want to wiree each to 8 ohm so they can be used together. my other option is 2-15s in eacn with a mid driver where the horn is.heres what i have

I'm not so sure I would want to mess them up. I would think they are collectible. Besides they are sooo cool as they are !!!

Just throwing speakers in there without measuring the box and port areas (matching drivers to the box), Is never a good idea IMO. Series parallel would be how you would need to wire it to keep the cabs 8 ohms.

yea they are cool, my band wants me to use them for pa mains cuz they look cool.lol thats what they are for so that might be where they end up, damn things got jbls in them. paid $150 for the pair. we are cuurently practicing at a college hall my son attends. he said "dad come check out all this old crap they want to get rid of." so far i found these, 2 old peavey tnt combos, various guitar amps and a old tube pa head. was told none of this stuff has moved in 30 years.

They are so retro, I remember seeing them all over when I was a kid. I don't think I would butcher them up. They are worth more than any bass cab you could make out of them if they are still original.

Besides, in the long run, IMHO, it would be more cost effective to purchase smaller new well designed bass cabs.
They really are cool looking. I remember them at HS dances and teen clubs in the 70's
