+1 to Bongo. Putting it more strongly, not only would it not do the same thing, but it would do a bad thing... suck out a lot of key bass frequencies for a big tone, but removing none of the subsonics.

However, again per Bongo's earlier post, this can be a trivial issue with a bass amp that has true hi passing set at a reasonable level, like the Genz stuff, or a disaster with an amp like the Mesa M6 or iAmp800, that seem to have no hi passing at all in their designs.

Yep, especially if it's a broadband graphic, like a full range 10 band one. Here's what a 15dB cut @ 50Hz might look like in that case:



The top and bottom of the graphs are +/- 20DB respectively. The far left side is 20Hz.

Here are a couple of 4th order high pass filter slopes, IIRC at something like 35Hz:
