I don't know if I wanna sell my ABM 810 :(

Hey I was just wondering if any of you guys own 8x10 cabs? Because my situation is that the band are sick of gigging it and refuse to help me lift it anymore

I have gone for the option of buying a second hand Ashdown abm 410H for 200 euro for gigs. The only thing is if I buy it(with a lend off the band) I will be financially F-ed in the A for the next month or so.

I really love it. But does the 8x10 really make much difference than the 4x10's?

If I sell the 8x10 for my asking price(600, it is 710 new) it will pay for the cab and I'll have money left for more equipment. But at the same time if it came down the line years later to buying a new one, it would cost me a bomb.

What would you guys do in my situation?

Check out the Ashdown CL610. Smaller than the 810 and a little bigger than the 410.

And it's a killer sounding cab(at least it is to me).

Ashdown endorser.

I'd tell the lazy weaklings to man up and lend a hand. For real.

in every band i've been in, we've always helped each other out. unless there is an actual physical reason they can't help, tell em' to get over it.

Thats the thing. They always do. But it never fits in a car so we always have to get an eight seater taxi to a venue when we are gigging it. And they always bitch that they can carry their own gear and I'm the only one that needs a hand.

I've seen other bassists that use 2 cabs. A 4x10 and a 1x15 usually stacked. But my AMB 900 only has one working connection(It can only connect to one cab. Unless I pay 250 or so to get it fixed properly). Not sure what to do..

I was lucky to find one for so cheap. Plus my head can only connect to 1 cab at the moment.

Most 410 cabs have parallel inputs so you can daisy chain more than 1 cab.Just make sure the cabs you use don't drop you below the minimum load of your amp head.

Really? So are you saying my amp was originally designed to go to 4 cabinets? :O

How do you chain them together? There is 2 jacks on the back of the cab and one speaker cable. Is that the reason they're there?

wait, if there are 2 jacks, why did you say you can only connect to one cabinet?

I mean on the back of the cab. They're are two jacks on the back of the amp head also and it does have 2x 575 watt in it. But one of them is broke. So it now acts like an ABM 500 rather than a 900.

I didn't know before you guys mentioned it that you could daisy chain cabs with the need for another slot on the amp head.

I'd say the more serious problem is that your bandmates won't help you with your gear.

No they do. But they keep saying my amp is too big and is just hassle. They're right in a way because of my amp we always need to 2 cars when we provide the gear for a gig. Or else get an 8 seat taxi each time. But I suppose a band van would solve that issue as well ;P I really love my 8X10 but at the same time it is alot of hassle.

I suppose I can understand that. If you don't need it and it's a hassle, by all means get something else.

Carry on...

I look it at this way; if you do not have the transportation to handle your gear, you can not impose your issues on everyone else. Getting gear to shows should be the player's responsibility. Helping out band mates for a few shows here and there is ok as long as you are cool with it. But I can see why your band mates are angry at you. Are you paying them for an 8 seat taxi rental?

Maybe advertise that you’d like to trade it for a smaller cab, as there are others wanting bigger than they have.

You might even get a bit of money, too.

Are you sure you'll get your asking price? Sell your cab before you buy anything. It is not uncommon to have trouble selling something that is supposed to pay for something you already bought.
