I have an Amp issue...

Sign in to disble this ad
About a year ago, in my band room while i was gone, my friend tripped over my bass cord which was connected to my amp.

What ended up happening is the end of the cord which connects to the amp/guitar got stuck in my amp.

I couldnt get it out, i tryed using twizzers and yanking it out but i couldnt reach it.

Luckily i can still put another cord in my amp to play but if i yank on the cord, it loses the sound.

Im not sure i can get it out, if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

P.S I have a 100 Watt Ashdown Amp

You may have to change out the entire jack, it also might be one of those jacks that is soldered to the PCB, chances are the barrel of the jack got bent and it's wedged in ... if your not handy/comfortable soldering on PCB, take the amp in ... it's cheaper in the long run

I agree with jastacey, but... you might be able to extract the broken Jack by simply threading a Drywall (or a very small diameter metal) screw a short distance into the small hole you'll probably find in the very center of that broken Jack. If you can get the screw to start, you could hopefully just pull out on the screw to remove it..

Or you could take the cover off the amp (unplugged first) and see if it is an open type of jack if it is you can just use a screwdriver to push out the b roken piece.

yeah, kinda like using a slim jim to unlock a car. whenever i've used one, all it did was leave a little grease mark on the window.

Little glue on the end of a Q-tip?

I have been lucky and just desoldered the jack from the board which is what your tech would do...

I would also spend the 4 dollars and have him replace the jack while it is out anyway...
