It's not listed on Epifani's website, so it must be a prototype. I got it for light rehearsals to pair with my Stm-900. I also will use it for outdoor gigs to pair with my 1288. The cab shows 8 ohms/ 150 watts. The watts worry me a little, but I know that Epifani is a little conservative in their ratings.
Any thought of this will work?

I have a couple mint T-112NYC cabs. I've talked to Nick, and although he doesn't have time for small talk - I'm confident he or others would be happy to talk about products and try and assist you in any manner within their control. It's not like calling a huge company. They're proud of where they've been, what they do, and where they're going. Well worth the dime for the call

Nick said the cab is RATED at 150 watts, but that it can be pushed harder, but I need to be careful.
That was the main purpose of this thread. I wanted your opinion on how this cab would handle my current setup. Whether I use it as a stand alone cab, or using it in combo with my Genz Benz 1288T. I'm afraid that it will fart out far too soon. Thank god I can return it if it doesn't work out. Then I might have to pick up a UL-112, and spend alot more. The cab will be here Wednesday, so I should know soon.
So any thoughts?

The UL line is their neodymium "ultralight" pro cab. They have/had the Epifunky<Performance<UL<DIST lines, in order of price (and specs for the most part).
The only way to know for sure if it works well is to try it, but I am guessing that the GB you already have is a fuller signal top to bottom than the epifani and that you won't gain much stacking them.
You should have a nice small cab however. 150 watts doesn't mean much, the cabinet will be excursion limited and you'll fart/blow out the speaker before melting it most likely. A 112+tweet can't do everything, but it can do alot.

I want to add a lightweight cab (8 ohms around 30 pounds) to this rig. I would like to use it as an add on so I can run the STM-900 at 4 ohms total load, but I also would like to use it as a stand alone for rehearsals. Any suggestions on what would fit this description?

Epifani NYC and UL series will exceed their printed wattage, and in fact prefer to be over-powered than under-powered

I ran it alone with my STM-900 at a light rehearsal, and it sounded pretty good. It only weighs 30 pounds, so that's a big plus for me. I will try it paired with my 1288T, and see how it changes my sound. I'm hoping it will push more air, and handle the 900 watt load. If I don't like it I can return it to GC.
The model number is UG112. Not sure the UG stands for, but Nick Epifani told me that these were made as a prototype sent out to dealers to introduce the EpiFUNKY line. Not sure why this models was cut from the production line.

I played around with the cab for a week (thru a Shuttle 6.0) but I was not overly impressed-it was very lightweight and portable but the sound quality did not compare with the quality of the PS 210 I have or of the ps 112 I have heard before...it could not handle the low B string.
I returned it to the GC in Wilmington Delaware for a full refund and they were very nice about it...so they will be putting it up for sale shortly if anyone would like to check it out
I will continue my search for a ps 112 or a UL 112 in the Philadelphia/Wilmington area! |

I got this one cheap so if I don't like it, it's going back to GC, but I have 30 days to decide. I have my eye on either a UL112 or UL210.

I use a gk neo 112 (rated 300W around 30lbs) to shuttle back and forth to practice with my streamliner900 fwiw. I previously had a gb neoX112, while it was a winner sound wise, it was a fairly big box for a 112. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
