Inexpensive, lightweight combo, does old-school and modern tones, decent features, sounds like more than 250 watts and 35lb.
Doesn't seem to have any of the problems with flimsy switches, etc., that cropped up with the BG500. TC appears to be back on track again... |

I really like the functionality, compactness, lightweight, and the Toneprint ability to "zap" new effects through your phone right into your bass pickups and into the amp. Very cool concept. I'm going to use the 'aux in' to double as a keyboard input. |

You'll find out a lot by reading through the BG250 Club thread. I'm sure a lot of your questions will get covered there. It's pretty much a compilation from guys who have had one for anywhere from around 6 months to yesterday and there's a lot of good honest input.
What do I like about it. It's lightweight (35lbs) and the controls are easy to understand and to operate. I like the way the EQ section works and I prefer an adjustable pre-gain to a choice of an passive or an active input. Optimizing that pre-gain the way TCE suggests helps a lot with the basic setup.
The Tube Drive feature gets you back more in the direction of "old school" tube amps or leave it out and you'll get a little more modern tonality to it. Use as much or as little as you like. Use the Tone Print to add one of the compressors and you get a little more focus and punch along with a volume boost if you're a light touch player like I am.
Maybe one of the best things about it is that it's damn loud for a 250w 1x15 combo amp and their Active Power Management approach to it's design explains why. There's a link to that abstract in a post in the Club thread. With the input optimized for either of my basses and the Spectra Comp engaged I've never had the amp above a 5-5.5 on the master volume even without FOH support.
Nice overall sound and a rounded bottom end is how I'd describe it but the EQ section allows you to move around very nicely from there. It's really hard to get a bad sound out of it unless you dime those mids and then like any amp it sounds boxy and honks too much.
I play passive Fender Basses but I'm sure it would work nicely with any active bass as well. It's just a lot of amp for the money is the way I look at it. TCE did a nice job with this one. I love GKs too but chose this one over an MB115. Enjoy your new rig.
