I Know Everybody Talks About Having Too Many Bass'! How About Bass Rigs?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have not seen any posts about having too many bass rigs. Most people have way to many bass's. After digging through my stuff in the garage I have found there are 7 complete rigs out there, not to mention my combo amp in the house. What I found:

1. Carvin Redline RL810 and Carvin BX 600 head

2. Carvin Redline RL410 and Carvin Redline 600 head

3. Carvin BR410N,Carvin BR15N and Carvin BX 500 head

4. Hartke 4x10 (Old One) and Hartke HA 2500 head

5. Behringer BA 410 and Behringer BX4500H head

6. Fender Bassman 100 Combo

7. Markbass 106HR and Markbass LM II

Individual rigs with no single component listed twice:

1. Ampeg PF500 / PF115HE / PF115HE

2. Sound City 120 MK IV / '72 Ampeg 810

3. Ampeg V4BH / Marshall 410 (refitted as a half sized vintage CTS/SVT 810 cab)

4. Ampeg SB-12 ('66)

5. Ampeg B15N ('67, head is in the shop)

6. Ampeg PF500 / TB110 (micro rig / head is blown)

7. Peavey Century Bass 200 / Bag End 410 / Bag End 210 (both with coax tweeters)

8. Marshall JTM-60 / B52 AT412 (great bass overdrive! bad preamp tube at the moment)

...I'm 23 in January. See why I have too much? I'm at least selling the V4BH and Bag Ends for not being the go-to's. Everything else gets a fair slot of the action when it's working.

Agreed but it doesn't hurt to have both!

I've blown every dime since 16 on music. Now I'm more interested in expanding upon my own musicality than worrying about tone. I can get wonderful tones out of all of my amps. Now it's about playing wonderful notes and not fussing with tone. I knew I had to grow up some day...

I think after 45 years of bass playing and owning more gear than I can remember,I have come to this conclusion. I can put a speaker in a cardboard box,and power it with my Heathkit power amp(yes I built it when I was 16),and get a good sound. All the bass amps I currently own do the job well for me. Some just cost more to do that job.

Couldn't agree more. All the stuff I have is just way too much. Someday I'll open a Bass Shop, sell off everything except 2 good basses. It's nice to have lots of different instruments and amps to pick and choose from though!

I agree wholeheartedly! I'm glad that I'm coming to that same conclusion after only eight years. Now if only I could get around to selling all of these extra amps... Dang it, it's too easy to rationalize keeping them when they're rare and you want to put together a studio soon.

I'm using a '70's Peavey Century Bass head I paid $60 for as my main head in my loudest band. Why? It sounded most appropriate for the mix. I know that I agree.
