I really REALLY love it.
Bought it second hand about 6 years ago for $300. Thing is well over 20 years old and I've never ever had any problems with it. The eq and voicing filters help me shape a desirable tone for any bass of mine that I plug into it. It's versatile, built like a tank, and it's relatively light.
I know there are other amps out there that are higher priced, tube-driven, hand-wired whatever that people go gaga over, but I'm so happy with the Gallien-Krueger 800RB that I have no desire to even bother looking at anything else.
Just saying. |

| LOL! I'll never forget in 1987 when the G-K rep called on the music store I managed, and set one up for me. I was hooked, and couldn't believe the sound coming out of that "lightweight", 23lb. monster. Back then, 40+ lbs. was the norm.
Convinced me to order an 800RB and several other smaller pieces (ever see the tiny guitar amps they made then?), amid the protests of the corporate office. They were interested in Peavey and Fender only, but I ended up with the 800RB and still have it to this day. Only thing.....it don't seem as light anymore!

...would the 800RB even be that much of an upgrade? I'm a little more interested in the 1001 and Fusion 550 at this point...
in any case, <3 GK

in any case, <3 GK | All you would pickup with 800RB is the 100 Watt amp with the Bi-amp really. You want to step up go Fusion 550.
