I need advice on cab building, speakers, and electronics

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi. I want to build a cabinet to go with my Acoustic 150 bass amp head, 200 watts. What kind of electronic components do I need to make a 15", a10", a horn, and a tweeter all work together properly? Also, what do I need to take into account as far as speaker resistance?

Thanks.

Start here in the Amps Forum FAQ. Go to the DIY section and work through the speaker building threads. Get back to us in a month or so...

Hi.

^What Charlie said.

Especially check the fEarful threads.

IMHO, the first question You'll have to ask yourself is why you want to build something.

If it's for the sake of DIY approach in life, or for the sake of trying something new, You'll most probably like the end result.

If it's for the sake of savings, forget it.

A general design cab will cost twice as much DIY vs. from the shop. What You're planning to build sounds more like a full range PA cab though, and some savings can be made there.

Regards
Sam

For starters, the 15 and 10 will cover so much of the same frequency range as to be a waste together.

A 15 OR 10 plus a mid and maybe a tweeter would be the way to go.
