I need help! Tech21?Ampeg?...

Hey guys, I play in a punk/hardcore band, I also play jazz and classical for fun but the importance is power!

I currently have an ampeg BA-115 combo with a sansamp BassDriver DI. Its alright, but I can barely be heard over my guitarist whos playing a 50watt tube marshall and 4x12 and my drummer who has an all maple set.

I know someone who is selling an Ampeg SVT-15E cabinet for $150. Is that a good price?

Now for the head, I was thinking either tech21 or a middle of the line Ampeg that can drive at least 250 watts of quality sound. Looking to spend at most $800 for the head.

I was also thinking of just getting a power head and using my sansamp bass driver as a pre amp. How would that be?

BTW I play an ernie ball sterling.

I can't offer much in the way of the rest of this but, personally, i would buy an SVT 15E for 150$ if i had the chance. I'm playing with a punk band now with a 15" ampeg speaker and its usable, but its not ideal. I'm not getting the high freq response. Our guitarist plays a blues deville 4x10 at 60 watts and i can be heard.

I'm pretty sure you can get a nice head for 800$ maybe save the money from the 15" and put it towards a 4x10 and get a cheaper head, or something used ?

for a total of 950$ i'm sure you can get a used ampeg 4x10 and a head that will sound pretty good, or that new micro VR rig they have is like 600 for a 200watt head and SVT210 cab.

Part of your volume issue now is the fact you're using a single 15" driver. Wouldn't matter how big of an amp you bought, if you're still using only a single 15 with that. I'd suggest you look at bigger speaker cabs, if you want more volume. A good 4x10 would probably do the trick, and if you buy used, shouldn't cost a fortune, either.

you can get a great 4x10 and a good head used for $800. If you look a little harder and wait, you can get a good 8x10 and a head for $800.

I'm not sure about the Ampeg cab, but that sounds like a pretty good price. I currently use the Sansamp and just a straight QSC power amp through a Carvin 4x10 cabinet and it rocks..........some people like having a bass head though, but with the Sansamp, you don't necessarily need it.
