I unplugged the head tried it through another speaker cab it was fine crystal clear so it has to be my cab but the cab is rated at 700watts my head is 450 and no way close to blow up that cab what could it be and has anyone else had this happen

Could just be a loose connection at the jack, or you may have something going out on the crossover.

Could be a bad speaker cable? Loose jack? Power issue at the club maybe? Was something blocking the heat exhaust of your head?

Try to narrow down your possibilities as much as possible. It'll help you find a solution.

The "Power rating" of the cab has little to do with its actual limits at bass frequencies. How loud were you playing?

loud is a relative term

My amp had a vu meter and i keep it out of the red usually 2 or 3+ nothing crazy small club but we are a three piece so i do push it a bit now and then to cover the sound. I read that it has some kind of protection circuitry to prevent the horn from overloading but would that also cut the power to the 4 10's i checked the connects all good. when i removed the back at the gig i did notice that that little transformer was hot but someone had turn the hf level all the way up. any help is greatly appreciated.

The VU meter is really window dressing, looks better than "Peak" lights. The cab could have been reaching its themal limit and overheating if you play heavy on the low boost. Did you have to switch speaker cables? Undersized cable or one with poor connections can overheat (as heat increases so does resistance in a conductor).
You finished the gig on another cab right? That most likely means it was not the amp head.

I think the cab is loaded with 4 Peavey Sheffield TVX 1035-8 10 Inch 8 Ohm Bass Speakers/Power capacity: 300 W Peak 150 W Program 75 W Continuous, which would only be 300watts rms.

Sounds as if the answer is at hand. Dial back on the bass some next time if you need to play that loud (if the cab is still ok) or add a second cab for the needed volume.
