I picked up one of these... and I'm gonna use it for bass

I went to pick up a Squier Vista bass from Craigslist. It was about 2 hours away, and I passed a shop on the way to the guy's house. When I was heading back, I stopped in the shop and saw this.

$100. I tried it with a couple basses through a bass cab and it sounded awesome. I immediately tried to offer them the bass for the amp plus cash, but they weren't into it (they offered a straight trade, pft). So, I guess the bass is out now, because I'm keeping this bad boy. I'm interested to see how it'll sound through a huge 4x12 bass cab.

I'm a little confused. You went to buy a bass then tried to trade it in against the amp???

Is the $100 what they wanted for the amp or the bass?.
If the amp cost $100 then what did you pay for the bass to have to pony up additional cash for the amp?

I went to purchase a bass from a Craigslist ad about a 2 hour drive away.

On the way there, I passed a music shop, so I checked it out heading back home after picking up the bass.

The bass amp was awesome, the bass... I kind of purchased it with the intent to resell if I didn't really feel I needed it. So, I immediately offered a trade, but they wanted to trade straight, which would have cost me more than the price tag, so I just purchased it.

I think that's actually a PA head. That hole on the side was for mounting in a tubular frame, but I could be wrong.

I believe the head in the picture is the 60's earlier 70's, Kustom, 100 watt, S.S., 4 channel, P.A. head.

It is. Was in a band that used a Kustom PA oh so many years ago.

The bass was from a private seller in that town, the amp was from a shop.

The bass was more than the amp. The amp was $100.

Yes, that's why I said "and I'm using it for bass."

The amps of this series, guitar, bass, and PA, are all identical circuits, just different controls.

SS. Getting tired of finnicky tube amps. Never had as much issue with tube guitar amps as I seem to have with bass amps.

100WRMS, actually, dating to circa 1967. Loud and very clean, but hissy, so I'd avoid cabs with tweeters.

I really dug the sound of the 100 watt Kustom tuck n' roll bass rig I had for a short time in the late '70s (the amp was a late '60s - early '70s model as I recall). It had the matching 2x15 cab w/casters. Don't recall the model now but it just killed with my '63 Precision, perhaps the best amp for that bass that had a little power behind it. Got to love blue sparkle Nagahyde or whatever they called that stuff.

Me thinks you got a great deal on this thing; if it sounds good, it is good.
