how can i get that sound?
is it the bass? is it the amp? the effects? probably all of them but what do you think?

Its a P bass, sounds like its strung with flats, and some drive/gain from the amp.

EDIT: To get that sound, use your neck pickup (if your bass has two pickups) and flatwound strings.

you could also do it with roundwounds if you don't play very hard. but yeah, that's what i think, too...neck pickup, a slight bit of drive and flats are probably what he's using.
