I stole this!! or did I??

Sign in to disble this ad
I am a new bassist been playing a couple a months now and decided to build a rig where I can play with my bro and his friends, so far so good.

I went to guitar center and saw this cab

A 6x10 Unknown brand, however was told they believed it was a Carvin. They wanted a 160 bucks for it! my neighbor and we hooked it up played it on a acoustic b200 head and it sounded great. So I payed for it and picked it up today. Seems like I stole this cab for 160.00 as most I have seen are 500 plus.

Once home I decided to open it up and look for a brand name. I found

So... Does this mean its a Yamaha? Sorry I am new at this stuff. Also there is nothing on max wattage or ohm load or anything. Here is the inside pic. Can anyone tell me the max "load" this can handle.

Also was this a steal? I mean it sounds great to me I am happy with it but want other peoples feedback.

<---- Not an expert

But My 'guess' is:
180 watts RMS
8 ohms

Yamaha speakers dont nessecarily mean its a yamaha cab.
Most manufacturers use other companies speakers in there cabs.

Ummmmmmmmmm

Pressboard baffle, low wattage (probably guitar) speakers

If it sounds good to you, enjoy - I would have walked away from it (quickly).

The grill cloth supports are right in front of the ports. I don't think the grill is original. Ports seem small. It's a guitar cab.
Take it back.

The way it's wired, it looks like 180 watts at 5.34 ohms.

Those speakers definitely won't last long. You can get some nice replacement Celestions from Avatar for around $150 for 6. So $300 for a 6x10? Not too bad. I'd rock it...after replacing the speakers.

I wouldn't invest another penny into sprucing that thing up.

Most likely those aren't bass speakers. Google knows nothing of them. If you play that cab with drums and they are guitar speakers they won't handle the bass and you'll blow them. Then it'll be worthless. I'd take it back and look for something else.

I can see why some would mistake it for a guitar cab... 6x10 guitar cabs arent very common on the market these days.

Ditch it. Nothing but but heartbreak. GC has a 30 day return policy. Use it.

Those look like guitar speakers. I have no idea what that cab is. Could be a home made job. I agree with dannylectro.

ya, that's an old 610 guitar cab. would be cool for guitar maybe, except it's made out of pressboard. it may sound good but you're very limited by how much you can turn it up. i agree with the others...i wouldn't keep it.

+1 with taking it back.

Seriously doubt those speakers were made for bass!

Look around for a used Peavey cab, they usually show up cheap, they sound pretty good, take a beating, but are pretty heavy. (there are other similar cabs out there too).

If you can find another cab like it... you could have one hell of a pa. or a nice stereo.
