I think I blew out my LIttlemark 2 head

Sign in to disble this ad
The gain Light popped on and the head popped off. Checked the fuse and it looks good. I shut it off thinking it might need to reset something but that did not work. I was plugged into my Epi Ps 112, tweeking the attenuator knob for the tweeter and plucking the G string. Thats when it popped.

Any suggestions. The Gain clip light did not come on before that. I was pushing hard but not for more then 5 minutes.

Never had a problem before.

I would change the fuse anyway, I have had ones heat up but not burn in two. It heated up just enough to break the connection and I could only tell it was bad by putting it on an ohm meter.

Well, it still powers up. I just don't get any sound unless I turn the knobs on the gain and Volume all the way up and then I get a low Hiss. Like a low static sound.

Have you tried a different speaker cable?

Is your effects loop serial or parallel? Try plugging an instrument cable into the Effects return jack and see if you get anything through the amp.

Please keep us posted and Good luck!

"Happy Days are Here again..."

Just a cable in the tuner that was out a little. What a dope. I got so upset.

Well Markbass is still looking good kids. Sorry for The false Alarm.

Plug an iPod into the effects return and see if it will play music through your cab. If it does, then you have damaged something on the input/preamp. If you have another amp, plug the effects send into the other amp and play through the LM input and see if you can get sound. Doing these test will give you an idea if the pre or power amps have gone bad.

I did that the other day when I was modding a pedal. This mod required replacing the op amp which can be tricky. So I plug the cable to the box and... Nothing. Spent 10 minutes tracing the signal and reflowing the solder joints. Turns out I accidentally unplugged the guitar from the cable at some point. Doh! Works great.

imho it does no good in the lmii or iii to push the gain hard unless you like hard compression. you want it to be up so you get a low noise floor but the sound really doesn't change that i could tell.

Yeah, Jimmy - I agree. Sounds like you are still rocking yours too! Still in love with mine, and every time I have to carry it, I fall in love again.

um, well, uh...

actually i sold my markbass stuff, foamy. once i got my vintage ampegs fixed back up and the vt pedal came out, i felt like i had too much money tied up in a great sounding amp that all of a sudden became a backup to the other stuff. i still think they sound very tubey for a clean running amp, but i can't not run with the ampegs these days....i only have a few good svt years left

Jimmy, I usually turn it up till it clips and then drop it back until it stops. Just like the manual suggests.

Is there a better way. I figured thats the best way to get the most volume from the cab.

OK, I'll admit it. Get to gig, set up rig, hook it all up (alledgedly), hit the switch and nothing....uh oh. Better get the spare amp out of the car......wait a minute, electric amps work better if you actually plug them into the wall.

Done the same thing setting up the entire PA system carefully running cable, labeling channels so I know who's mic is who's. Have that holy crap moment thinking the gig is sunk and then realize I forgot to roll up the volumes on the poweramps.

Patience truly is a virtue.
