Last night I purchased a Swr 2004 head on the spot for $50 from a guy that was just getting rid of his gear.
It sounds pretty dang good for the price, I was wondering
what other people thought of this head and if its usable in
a live situation. It sounded really loud in the practice space,
but thats just the room. Any help shall receive a smiley!

A $600 head for 50 bucks? Hope it's not stolen gear.

Yeah. My thoughts exactly, but anyways, congrats! Should be a good head if it's anything like my SM-400.

I don't think so, I hope not. The guy was selling it for a friend who is going to jail, and i think he wanted quick cash.

This begs the question: what is the guy going to jail for??? If it's theft your amp could well be a stolen item and one of our brothers is out there smarting from the loss. To protect yourself you should contact your local constabulary and ask their advice. The last thing you want is to be charged with being in possession of stolen property.

That is prolly a good idea, I'm going to talk to the guy first about why his friend is going to jail, but he did say he was a musician so i dunno. But its always good to be safe than sorry, or however that saying goes

I don't think the SWR Workingman 2004 was ever $600(maybe retail, but I think they sold for around $300). I could be wrong though....
I think you got a good deal. 50 bucks for a good sounding, working head is always a good deal in my book.

Edit: It would certainly work live, as long as you don't expect it to get too loud @ 200watts/4ohms. What cab will you be running it through?

I have an avatar 2x12, but i usually run a peavey classic 50/50 tube power amp, and from there into my guitarists swr 400 head into a swr workingpro 4x10. plenty of power, but i would like to find a used 15inch speaker cab like peavey, or a peavey 1820 and run it with this head.
